Lodge Burns « Result #5 on Jan 30, 2008, 10:08pm »
Masonic Lodge Burns Marie Luby Reports, wymtnews.com
It's used for everything from luncheons to community events now an eastern Kentucky Masonic Lodge is a burned out shell. The fire started at the Krypton Lodge Tuesday morning. Fire officials tell us they still aren't sure what caused the fire, but those directly affected say it won't stop them from celebrating their history and continuing their work. Nearly everything inside the Krypton Masonic and Eastern Star Lodges was lost in a fire that spread from the furnace room.
“They go way, way back those pictures does,” Henry Spencer said.
Back to 1921, pictures of Masters who served since the beginning of Krypton Lodge.
“That's the one that didn't get damaged much, and see all the rest of them are destroyed,” Spencer said. “There's no price you could put on stuff like that.”
The price to replace everything else is somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-thousand dollars.
“It is going to be a devastating this for us, but like the phoenix rising from the flames Krypton Lodge will return,” Bobby Danner said.
“You know it's just a glitch, we're going on Danner said.
Members say their charity work includes everything from donating clothes to fire victims to giving schools teaching supplies and the fire won't change any of that.
“We had a thing last year for the hospice for 15 kids that were terminally ill. We're going to do something for them again this year,” Danner said.
Lodge members take pride in their history, community service, and can-do attitude... things they say no fire can destroy.
