Brother Donnie Stevens and his band provided festive music for the event, The Appalachian Christmas Project. Shirley Hurley, mother-in-law of Mayor Lewis, volunteered to help hand out toys. One of four semis which brought Christmas gifts to Clay County High School for The Appalachian Christmas Project. The Appalachian Christmas Project of 2007 was directed by Joann Thompson of Dove Broadcasting, WGGS TV 16 out of Greenville, South Carolina.
Thompson said "This has been the biggest turnout in the thirty years we've been doing it".
Aproximately 7,500 people attented the event held in The Clay County High School's auditorium.Tyler Wolfe and "The Mayor" of WKLB 1290 AM Radio were invited to MeeCee the event.
