"Appalachian Dawn" used in anti-drug program in Tri-State area
Marisa Anders the Claiborne Progress Editor wrote a nice story about the Cumberland Gap High School hosting an anti-drug movement and to watch a screening of "Appalachian Dawn," a documentary about how Clay County and Manchester, Kentucky, was changed from a drug-infested and corrupt area to the reclaimed "City of Hope" through the power of prayer and unity. One of the participants in the documentary, Steve Collett, was on hand at the screening to talk about his community's transformation and his personal transformation. There will be a screening of "Appalachian Dawn" at the Middlesboro Arts Center on Sunday, Oct. 2, from 6-8 p.m. A screening is planned for Lee County, Va., at Lee High School on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 6-8 p.m. and it will be shown at Claiborne High School on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend - there is no charge. Collett will be at the screening in Middlesboro, and others connected with the documentary will likely be at other screenings. Many come to game just to pray
Reporter Kendall Downing of WYMT News did a great job on a report about the Bell County football fans saying the Lord's Prayer during moment of silence. According to the report a number of people came only to say the prayer. Quite a few folks left the game right after kickoff. Kendall ended his report with a very good point. There's no word on whether the crowd will continue to say the Lord's Prayer aloud during the moment of silence at future games.
If not, then a handful of anti-Christian zealots that made an email complaint will win by default.... See the video and read the article at: www.wkyt.com/wymtnews/headlines/Bell_Co_football_fans_say_Lords_Prayer_during_moment_of_silence_130893228.html

Middlesboro Daily News Steve Collett guest speaker at Expecting God's Help prayer rally
ROGERSVILLE- Over 1,000 people congregated at Cherokee High School on Saturday for the first county-wide Expecting God's Help prayer rally with guest speaker Steve Collett. Collett, a former Clay County, KY drug dealer, devotes his time to telling people across the country how a life that seems hopeless and meaningless can be changed with faith in Christ. His story is outlined in the documentary "An Appalachian Dawn". Hawkins County's Anti Drug Coalition, Expecting God's Help, began almost a year ago when a small group of residents, frustrated by their family member's drug problems, began meeting regularly at McDonald Hills Country Club. Inspired by the documentary, "An Appalachian Dawn", and the transformation of Clay County, KY by Operation Unite, Expecting God's Help plans to battle Hawkins County's drug problems by hosting prayer meetings, marches, and other events. The group invites the community to attend a showing of "An Appalachian Dawn" at Cinema 4 Theater in Rogersville on March 10 at 9:00 a.m. To see the movie trailer, visit: glowtorch.orgFor more information about Expecting God's Help in Hawkins County and to sign up for emails about other scheduled events, please visit: www.expecting-gods-help.com
