Trooper Island Gun Auction Kentucky State Police Press Release
You are bidding on a special edition Henry Repeating Arms 22lr model H001 lever action rifle. This rifle is #1 of 300. This is a KENTUCKY STATE POLICE limited edition of only 300 rifles made. The pictures do not do this rifle justice. And you are bidding on the first rifle in the series. There will not be any more of these ever made! Rifle is of course brand new in box and is flawless. This rifle was made as a fundraiser for the Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Camp. All the money from the sell of these rifles has gone to the camp as will the auction of this rifle. All rifles in the series are sold except for this one so there will be no more listed. Trooper Island Camp was developed by the Kentucky State Police as part of a long range program of public service to the youth of Kentucky: a place where the tensions and turmoil of our everyday lives can be forgotten; and for one week young people can be given a touch of hope and desire for a better tomorrow. Spearheaded by former State Police Director, Colonel James E. Bassett, the idea was to establish a permanent recreational site where trooper and child could share a week long experience. A location was selected in a secluded corner of Dale Hollow Lake near the Cumberland and Clinton County line, where an island was leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and a non-profit charitable corporation was formed. Funding for Trooper Island camp depends solely upon contributions which are tax deductible. Many participants who have been selected to attend camp on Trooper Island later on return to be counselors for the camp, and in addition, there have been others who have gone on to become Kentucky State Troopers. The camp is designed for boys and girls ages 10-12 to attend a week long camp at no cost to them. Troopers all over the state nominate different kids in their post areas and the kids are selected then to attend the camp. Like we stated. All the proceeds from the sale of this rifle will go straight to the kids camp. So keep the bids coming and we thank you for your support!! As you look at the pictures there are actual pics of the proof we had made and the rifle that is 1 of 300. The proof is not for sale and just added those pictures to show more photos of the rifle. The rifle being auctioned here is 1 of 300. www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=377923754 The preceding press release was from Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London which serves the following Kentucky Counties: Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, and Whitley.

'Operation Holiday Lights' gearing up for the New Years Eve holiday Kentucky State Police Press Release
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is gearing up for the New Years Eve holiday, which is traditionally a time for festive events where people gather to ring in a new year. Many of these celebrations include the consumption of alcohol, lending way to the potential for impaired drivers on Kentucky roadways. Since the Thanksgiving holiday, KSP has been actively implementing the 'Operation Holiday Lights' enforcement effort that includes nighttime seat belt enforcement and impaired driving crack downs. KSP Spokesman Trooper Paul Blanton says the agency will utilize all resources available in an effort to reduce loss of life on Kentucky roadways. "Kentucky is at the lowest number of highway fatalities since 1947," says Blanton. "A part of that number is due to enforcement and education efforts about traffic safety. The other part is credited to the vigilance of motorists who wear seat belts, reduce their driving speed and utilize designated driver programs," adds Blanton. As of December 26, 2013, there have been 628 traffic deaths on Kentucky roadways. Even though that number is significant in size, it is 116 fewer traffic deaths than reported in 2012. "We are asking motorists to 'finish strong' when it comes to their driving behavior," says Blanton. "More drivers in Kentucky are making wise choices when it comes to traffic safety and we encourage them to remain vigilant with these practices." Blanton urges friends and family members to take the keys away from anyone who consumes alcohol and arrange for them to be driven home. "We know there are going to be holiday celebrations this time of year where alcohol will be consumed, so your best bet is to always designate a sober driver before the parties begin," says Blanton. The national New Years Eve holiday enforcement period begins Monday, December 30, 2013 at 6 p.m. and extends through January 1, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. "Make no mistake, our message is simple. If you are caught driving impaired, you will be arrested. We will be out in force to take drunk drivers off the road - and save lives that might otherwise be lost," adds Blanton. KSP established a toll-free number (1-800-222-5555) that citizens can call to report impaired or erratic drivers The preceding press release was from Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London which serves the following Kentucky Counties: Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, and Whitley.
