Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Transportation Drive Smart Program is coordinating the US 421 Safety Corridor Blitz. With the water level on Goose Creek down to its lowest point in years the City of Manchester is now pumping water from a local coal mine. Water bans are still in effect. The new boat dock at Rawlings-Stinson park is waiting on the water level in Goose Creek to rise so Clay County boaters can use it again. According to published reports the county is preparing to build another boat dock in the Oneida area.Click Here for the ClayLive.com Photo Gallery

Despite the recent drought the water level at Bert T. Combs Lake is just below normal due to the water pumped into the lake from Goose Creek. The water level of Goose Creek is being maintained by water being pumped into the creek from a local coal mine.Click Here for the ClayLive.com Photo Gallery

With the recent drought and the normal start of the fire season in Clay County small fires like this one on Stringtown Road near the Clay County, Jackson County line can turn into major fires.
