CENTERVILLE, Ind. - Bonell B. Stewart, age 77, of Centerville, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Ambassador Healthcare. Bonell was born Aug. 26, 1934, in Manchester, Ky., to Clarence and Bernice Hacker Stewart. He had lived in Wayne County since 1966 after moving from Hamilton, Ohio. Bonell served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He worked as a set-up man for Dana Corp., retiring in 1995 after 32 years of service. Bonell was a member of American Legion Post 360 in New Paris, Ohio. He was an avid bowler and sports fan, particularly the Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR. Bonell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Lee Allen Stewart, to whom he was married on Dec. 7, 1960; children, Kimberly Lee (Frank) Poinsett of Richmond, Bobby Joe (Tierra) Stewart of Richmond, and Robin Stewart of Centerville; grandchildren, Lyndsey Jo Stewart of Eaton, Ohio, Riley Jane Stewart of Richmond, Dylan and Gabby Grimes of Richmond; great-grandchild, Shelby Lynn Stewart; brothers, Lowell Stewart of Darrtown, Ohio, and Earl (Irene) Stewart of Eaton, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, DC Stewart. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Mattie was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed cooking and ironing. Her favorite color was red, and she loved her family, friends and dogs. Mayme Renfro, 92, of Holton, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at her residence. She was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Manchester, Ky., the daughter of Robert and Lizzie Keith Sizemore. She was a former Avon sales representative and had worked at the Holton Creamery. She and her husband spent their winters in St. Cloud, Fla., for 40 years. She attended Shelby Christian Church. Ora Hollin, 77, of rural Brownstown, passed away at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at her home. She moved from Manchester, Kentucky to Brownstown in 1961 and was a devoted wife and mother as a homemaker. Ora loved to work in her flowers. Born April 5, 1934 in Leslie County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Corbin and Subrina (Richie) Wooten who are both deceased. On January 12, 1953 in Manchester, Kentucky she married John Hollin who survives in rural Brownstown.

Gene Huff, who served more than 26 years in the state legislature, died early Thursday in London. He was 82. Mr. Huff, who also pastored First Pentecostal Church in London for more than 25 years, served two terms in the state House of Representatives before he was elected in 1971 to the state Senate, where he spent more than 22 years. He retired in June 1994, the same day the tower went up for WYGE, a 50,000-watt Christian radio station he owned with his wife, Ethel Dayberry Huff, said Zawko, who worked at the station. Hazel taught school for 42 years, starting her career as a teacher in the two-room Stony Fork School, Stony Fork, Ky., at the age of 19. She continued to teach first grade for most of her career. RICHMOND -- Opal Lewis Huff was born February 3, 1919, in Clay County, Ky., and departed this life Sunday, December 4, 2011, in the Saint Joseph Hospital in Berea, Ky. She was 92 years, 10 months and one day of age. She was the daughter of the late Willie Lewis and Ida Rawlings Lewis of Jackson County, Ky. She is survived by: one sister Gloria (John) Stacy of Spring Valley, Ohio. Opal also is survived by: two sons, Cordell Huff and wife Kathy, Odell Huff and wife Sabra, all of London, Ky. James Lawrence "Jim" Rose, a Kentucky coal operator turned banker, died Monday of complications from a heart attack. He was 73. Mr. Rose, a Lexington resident, began his career by starting a small coal company in his native Clay County in 1959. Eventually, he became president and chief executive officer of Interstate Coal Co., which had operations in a dozen Eastern Kentucky counties. He retired from the coal business in 1993. He turned to banking in 1978 by acquiring a bank in Manchester. Later, he formed a bank holding company called United Bancorp of Kentucky Inc., which acquired seven more banks — in London, Danville, Nicholasville, Richmond, Versailles, Corbin and Harlan. United Bancorp merged with National City Corp. in 1995. Rose is survived by his wife, Judy Sizemore Rose; a son, James F. "Jamie" Rose; a daughter, Sonya Rose Hiler; eight grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lexington Christian Academy chapel. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Thursday at the academy chapel. Burial will be later in A.R. Dyche Memorial Park in London.
