She was born March 24, 1926 in Hyden, Ky., the daughter of the late Chester and Ellar Sizemore Woods. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Edna Watts; and a great-granchild. She is survived by her husband, Curt Osborne, who she married on Nov. 8, 1943 in Hyden, Ky.; five children, Kenneth Ray Osborne and wife, Audrey of Manchester, Imogene Yarnell of East Bernstadt, James Harold Osborne of East Bernstadt, Larry Osborne and wife, Patrena of Shiloh, Ohio and Curtis Osborne of East Bernstadt; three sisters, Juanita Jones of London, and Alice Williams and Lois Putman both of Michigan; a brother, Lige Woods of East Bernstadt, 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchilldren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hazel Green Holiness Church with Bros. Gary Lacy and Eldon Browning officiating. Burial followed in the Osborne Family Cemetery. Elaine was born July 31, 1945 in Clay County, KY to the late James T. and June Ferguson Sasser. Mrs. Marshall dedicated over half of her life to laying the foundation of learning to the children of Madison County, both at Kingston Elementary and Kit Carson Elementary Schools. Mrs. Marshall prided herself in inspiring children to read. Elaine was a member of the Silver Creek Homemakers Club, the Retired Teachers of Madison County, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She also attended the Owsley Fork Baptist Church. Elaine is survived by two daughters Wendy G. (John) Stephenson of Irmo SC, and Alison E. (Dwayne) Fox of Irvine, KY, one sister Danella S. (Kenneth) Tate of Richmond, KY, three grandchildren Abby Stephenson, Richie Stephenson both of Irmo, SC and Rowlan Fox of Irvine, KY and nephew Chad (Mary Carole) Tate of Richmond, KY. Funeral services for Elaine were Wednesday. Burial followed in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Pallbearers were Curtis Marshall, Scott Marshall, Chris Webb, Quentin Wilson, B.J. David Colson Asher, 94, of Pineville, died Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Tri-State Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Harrogate. He was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Red Bird, the son of George and Verda M. Creech Asher. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked in the Madison area for 15 years. He retired from the General Motors Truck and Coach Plant in Pontiac, Mich., as an inspector and union representative. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pineville. He is survived by his wife, Tishie Helton Morgan Asher; four children, Kathleen Boyle, David C. Asher Jr., Claude D. Asher and Ida Mae Dennis; two sisters, Lou Ross and Georgellen Swinford; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Louise spent her adult life in Hammond, Ind., working at LaSalle Steel Company before retiring to Hendersonville, N.C., St. Cloud, Fla., and eventually Nashville, Ind. She was an active member of Christian Fellowship Church in Hammond, Ind., and Evangelical Community Church in Bloomington, Ind., Louise was an artisan who produced beautiful handcrafted baskets, quilts and knitwork. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Oneida Baptist Institute (11 Mulberry, Oneida, KY 40972). David L. Doyle, 89, of Big Spring, died Monday, November 05, 2012 at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home. Graveside services with Military Honors were held November 8 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. He was born November 19, 1922 in Oneida, Kentucky to Mary Jane (Abner) and Lee Doyle. He married Vada Ruth Browning on October 2, 1962 in Weatherford, Texas. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2005. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force serving during World War II and in Korea. He retired as a Sargent after 20 years of service. He has been a resident of Big Spring since 1973. He ran a café in the Bus Station. He was a member of Baptist Temple Church. He is survived by two sons: Brad Browning of Greenville and Randy Browning of Palestine; three daughters: Debbie Johnson of Ormand Beach, FL, Shannon Creswell and Kelly Reitzer, both of Big Spring; three grandsons: Brian Browning and Derek Browning, both of Greenville and Seth Minter of Alabama; one granddaughter Katie Creswell of Big Spring and five great grandchildren. Louise Bowling Phelps, 89, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at her residence. She was born Sept. 26, 1923 in Clay County, Ky., to the late Jesse and Mary Frances McKee Bowling. She was united in marriage to the late Johnie Wallace Phelps on Sept. 1, 1940 in East Bernstadt, Ky. Louise had a real joy for life. She loved her church and loved reading the Bible (had read it several times). She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and was an avid reader. She was involved in showing ponies. She loved being with her grandchildren and will be missed by them. She was the former owner of Louise Florist and was also part owner of South 27 Auto Parts. Louise is survived by her son, Gary Wayne (Janis) Phelps of Somerset, Ky.; daughters, Margaret Ann (Bob) Jasper of London, Ky., Brenda Carol (Bobby) Jones and Sharon Louise (Doug) Turpin both of Somerset, Ky.; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Eula Mae Feltner and Alice Collier both of London. Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; a brother, Farris Bowling; and a sister, Eunice Gilbert. A celebration honoring the life of Louise was held Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Brother Paul Hines and Brother C. E. Jacobs officiating. Interment was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
