"Allo Aloe!"
The aloe plant originated in Africa. There are over 250 varieties of aloe growing throughout the world.
For centuries, Aloe Vera has been called the “wonder plant”. Recognition of its beneficial properties goes back 5000 years. It is rumoured that Cleopatra smoothed Aloe directly onto her skin and that Alexander the Great used aloe to treat his wounded soldiers. Aloe is a member of the Lily family and is related to onions, garlic and turnips.
Aloe gel is great for use after exposure to the sun, and for minor skin irritations, and helps to nourish and moisturize the skin. And an aloe drink works wonders for the digestive system, it helps weight loss and has wonderfully soothing properties.
Aloe provides minerals – calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium and zinc.
It contains Vitamin B12, and antioxidant Vitamins A E and E to combat the negative effect of free radicals on the skin.
Amino acids, the building blocks of protein are provided by aloe.
