Tips to avoid Heartburn
Avoid fatty foods. Don’t eat big meals – rather eat 5 or 6 small meals per day Don’t eat before bedtime – rather eat 3 to 4 hours before going to bed. Cut out tea, coffee, chocolate, peppermint and spearmint. Cut down on carbonated beverages (especially cola and beer), citrus fruits and tomatoes. Be wary of spicy food. Loosen tight clothing after eating. Don’t drink alcohol in the evening. Lose Weight – being 10-20% over your ideal body weight puts you at risk for heartburn. Stop smoking. Lie on your right side when sleeping.
