Lady Railsplitters Go Inside To Complete 8-1 Victory Over Carson-Newman College Lincoln Memorial University Press Release
HARROGATE, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University women's tennis team cruised in doubles play and dropped only one singles match as they rolled to a whirlwind 8-1 victory over the Carson-Newman College Lady Eagles on Tuesday afternoon. The win moves the Lady Railsplitters to 9-5 on the season and 3-4 in South Atlantic Conference play. With the loss, the Lady Eagles fall to 2-6 in conference play and 6-9 overall. This match was completed despite the resistance from the weather. Rain on Sunday afternoon halted the match at 3-0 in favor of LMU. On Sunday, the Lady Railsplitters dominated doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead. The number one pairing saw sofia Lopez Mimendi and Leah Donoff cruised past Jennifer Ott and Eric Green, 8-1. Shena Joseph and Alexandra Granger posted an 8-5 win over Katie Brown and Devon Jennings. In the final doubles spot, Logan Hubbs and Melanie Smith grabbed an 8-5 victory over Megan Wilson and Stefy Stand.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Railsplitters finished off Carson-Newman by winning five of the six singles matches. Leah Donoff won easily in the top spot, defeating Ott, 6-2, 6-0.
