Covington Scottish Rite Foundation Ritecare Expansion
The Covington Scottish Rite Foundation is pleased to announce its second expansion in just over a year. The Foundation provides speech and language therapy services for children in need through their program called RiteCare. The Foundation has a service center in Cold Spring, Kentucky with Speech and Language Services, LLC, and they opened their first expanded service in Ashland in the Summer of 2012 at the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. The third service will be established in Prestonsburg, Kentucky through the Highland Regional Medical Center. Service will start on January 1, 2014.
“We recognized the need and put forth the resources necessary to help these kids”, said Richard Knock of Union who serves as President of the Foundation. RiteCare is geared toward the 2-5 age groups so that they are more prepared for school. Qualifying families are usually those that cannot received state/federal assistance and those who are at an income level where they cannot afford insurance or pay for the out of pocket expenses. Kevin Sell of Alexandria is Vice-President of the Foundation and explained that “we simply wanted to get in another area of our jurisdiction where there was a need and we found it in the Prestonsburg area.”
The Foundation has also purchased an iPad for the new RiteCare unit to aid with therapy by the use of certain apps. This will be presented on December 12 when the contract is signed.
