Simple Yoga To Remove Fat From The Abdomen And Buttocks This simple exercise not only removes fat from the abdomen and buttocks, but it also improves digestion!
Kneel, sitting on your parted heels. Feet must be flat on the floor with toes together and soles upward. The legs should be resting on the floor from toes to knees, taking the full weight of the body. The knees must be together and the back, neck and head must be in a straight line.
With palms together, raise your arms above the head, slowly bending forward until the forehead and the sides of the palms touch the floor. Stretch your arms forward as far as possible, making sure not to raise your head or lift the buttocks from the heel. This pose must be held for 12 seconds. Repeat 6 times, gradually increasing to 30 seconds. Rest between each by sitting up with the hands on your knees.
To derive maximum benefit from any yoga pose, assume the Savasana or "Dead Pose" before and after each: Lie flat on the back, keeping the head, spine and legs in a straight line. Heels should be together and toes apart. Palms must be flat on the ground, and eyes closed. Slowly relax every muscle in your body from the toes up. Visualise whilst breathing in that your body is toned and relaxed, and that you are breathing out all your toxins.

Flu and you By increasing your circulation through exercise, white blood cells are moved into the bloodstream, preventing colds and flu.
Do not exercise whilst suffering from a fever or muscle aches, if you already have a cold or flu.

Is There Room For Eggs In A Healthy Eating Plan? The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa says that three or four eggs a week are permissible as part of a healthy balanced diet. A moderate intake of eggs, up to 7 in a week, but limited to 1 a day, is still healthy for most of us without a cholesterol problem. Still, if eggs are a regular item on your breakfast table, you'll be wise to find ways to keep the cholesterol and fat under control. Here are a few suggestions:
Stretch one egg yolk by adding several extra egg whites. This works well for omelettes, scrambled eggs and other dishes where the yellow colour is important.
The most exciting new trend in specialty eggs is the addition of omega 3 fatty acids, which has helped the incredible edible overcome its unfair reputation as a danger to your heart. Producers add sources of omega-3 fats such as flaxseed or canola oil to the hen's feed to increase the healthy fat in their eggs.
Bear in mind that what often accompanies eggs - butter, bacon, cheese and cream - is far worse than the eggs themselves. So ship off the offenders and shape up your breakfasts!

Healthy Eating "Healthy Eating" is a vast topic, and it is beyond the scope of a tip or a few pages to touch on everything people should do to ensure a healthy diet and to make it applicable to all people. That being said, most people will benefit from taking at least a few steps towards making healthier food choices.
An important step to take is to look at food preparation methods:
Food preparation affects nutrient composition, nutrient interaction and nutrient availability. Handle food with care. Use olive and canola oils that are less heat sensitive than e.g. sunflower oil when cooking. Avoid using high temperatures for a prolonged period of time when preparing meat. High temperatures can result in an increased load of 'abnormal food particles', which results in an increased load on the body's detox system.

Age Spots/Liver Spots Lentigines (Age spots/Liver spots) are dark, blotchy spots that usually occur on the forehead and back of the hands and arms. They are extremely common after age 55 and rarely appear before middle age. They result from overexposure to the sun.
However, if you notice an increase in size of a spot or abnormal colour changes, you should see a doctor to rule out the early stages of skin cancer, which can have a similar appearance.
Sometimes they may be raised and look like tiny moles. They seem to appear suddenly on sun-exposed skin areas that are usually not protected with sunscreen. You can prevent them by applying a good quality sunscreen each time you go outdoors, even if it is overcast. This will also prevent existing spots from darkening. Use an SPF of at least 15, and apply it at least 15 minutes before going outside, in order to allow the skin to absorb it.
Rub the juice of a fresh lemon with some cotton wool on affected areas twice a day, or rub a piece of sliced red onion instead. Both are acidic enough to safely peel off the upper layer of skin, which will remove or lighten some age spots. They should begin to fade in 6 - 8 weeks.
If the surface of the spots seems rougher than the surrounding skin, applying castor oil twice a day with cotton wool should help. On larger spots, apply on a bandage at night time.

Holiday Cooking and Cleaning The holidays are here again, and that means, turkey, stuffing and, yep, salmonella, too. Here are a few cooking and cleaning tips we think you'll appreciate all year 'round. Salmonella flourishes in warm places, as in the middle of a turkey with warm stuffing. Don't feed the problem, prevent it! Wait until your stuffing is cold before filling the bird. Better yet, cook the stuffing separately and rub the inside of the turkey with herbs. Finally, as you cook, keep surfaces as clean as possible. When the work is done, mix 1 tablesthingy of bleach in 1 quart of water to sterilize all food preparation surfaces.

Hooked On GI? Take note. Different varieties of the same food e.g. potatoes are likely to have different properties, for instance some have a high GI and others a low GI. Even the way food is prepared or how slow or fast one eats could affect 'GI' or rather the effect of food on blood sugar levels. It is unwise to exclude any healthy fruit, vegetable or other naturally found food on the basis of GI or any other unsubstantiated recommendation or claim.

[glow=red,2,300][/glow] Beans and lentils are full of fiber. Soak them in water overnight to drain out some of the gas. Throw out this water, and cook in fresh water.
Sorbitol, a natural sugar, is often used in sugar-free products. It is hard to digest, so should rather be avoided if you suffer from bloating.
Chocolate contains sugar and dairy, which are both major sources of gas.
If you are bloated from PMS, walking will help dispel gas.

Too little acid in the stomach may cause an absence of appetite or a heavy feeling in the stomach after eating. To bring about the production of acid, sip 1 tablesthingy of fresh lemon juice in a little water before eating. Do not drink water before or after eating, as too much liquid dilutes the acid further.
Substances that will stimulate acid are bitter tasting, such as aperitifs. Chewing food well will produce the necessary digestive enzymes. Use herbs like Marjoram, Thyme or Basil with your food to further stimulate digestive enzymes.

Your body temperature is lowest in the morning and highest in the afternoon. If you have a fever, take your temperature at night, as you may read your temperature the next morning and think you are ok to go to work.
If you have a cold or flu and are breathing through your mouth because your nose is blocked, taking your temperature by mouth might be inaccurate. Rather place the thermometer under your armpit for 3 minutes and then add 1 degree to the reading.
A fever uses up energy. You should try to get 1-2 days bed rest. If you carry on working, you will prolong the illness.

Gas-fired furnaces provide more heat for your energy dollar than do any other type. Better than steam, coal, oil, propane, and yes, even better than heat pumps. But, most gas-fired furnaces are designed to heat large areas. In other words, if you're having a party and want to warm the whole house, a gas-fired central heating unit will give you the best bang for your buck. And even though portable electric heaters are probably the least-efficient and certainly the most-expensive type of heating device you can use, when you retire to that special room where you like to rest, they can be a money-saving friend. That's right, space heating with electricity still makes sense when heat is needed in one room, and the rest of the house is empty. Make sure your portable heater is ul-approved, and that it has a tipover warning devise. And don't forget warm clothing and a blanket.

Whenever you get a mild burn, just apply some regular mustard. The vinegar in the mustard takes the pain away, and the thickness of the mustard keeps it on the burn without running off. Just re-apply when it dries.

Long before "positive thinking" became a buzzword, patients visited psychologists for Cognitive Therapy. If you'd like a little DIY Cognitive Therapy, you can stick up Aaron Beck's 11 Thinking Distortions on your fridge or office wall and make an effort to avoid these bad mental habits (probably much more helpful than making New Year's Resolutions):
1. All-or-nothing thinking: You think something is either a failure or perfect. For instance, you see not achieving your goal weight as meaning you are a failure, even if you have been successful in losing weight.
2. Overgeneralisation: eg. One person tells you you are ugly, and you believe that everyone thinks you are ugly.
3. Mental Filter: You pick out a single negative detail and focus only on it. For example, you failed your Maths Exam and now think that you are stupid, regardless of all the other exams which you passed.
4. Disqualifying the positive: Even if something positive happens, you say it "doesn't count" so that you can maintain your negative belief, regardless of your experiences. Eg. When you get promoted, you say it doesn't count as you were only asked because Bob left.
5. Jumping to Conclusions: You jump to a negative conclusion without any supporting facts. a. Mindreading - you arbitrarily decided that someone doesn't like you without finding out if this is true. b. The Fortune Teller Error - you believe that things will definitely turn out badly.
6. Magnification/Catastrophizing or Minimization: You exaggerate the importance of things (such as your mistake or someone else's' achievement), or you inappropriately shrink things (such as your positive attributes or others' imperfections). For example, you are jealous of a celebrity's life because she has money and dresses well, and disregard the fact that she has a drug problem and has an abusive husband.
7. Emotional Reasoning: You assume your negative emotions reflect reality. For example, an anorexic can feel fat even when they are actually underweight.
8. Should Statements: You try to motivate yourself with shoulds and shouldn'ts, as if you are incapable of doing the right thing of your own accord. Feeling that things are an obligation tends to make you feel guilty. You might also think that others should do things, and feel angry, frustrated, or resentful if they don't.
9. Labeling and Mislabeling: This is an extreme form of overgeneralisation. Instead of describing the error you have made, such as " I spilled a bit of milk" you label yourself "I'm clumsy". Likewise you label others, often with highly emotional rather than factual labels, eg. because your husband looked at another women he is an "insensitive jerk".
10. Personalisation: You see yourself as the cause of some negative external event, which you in fact were not primarily responsible for e.g. My parents divorced because I was not a good child.
11. Self Worth: You make an arbitrary decision that in order to accept yourself as worthy, okay, or to simply feel good about yourself, you have to perfom in a certain way, usually most or all the time eg. I need to always control my eating to be a good person.

Older women tend to bruise more, due to the skin thinning because of collagen breakdown, leaving the underlying blood vessels more vulnerable. Applying Vitamin C cream on a daily basis helps rebuild collagen and should help lessen the likelihood of bruising.
A bruise should heal within a few weeks, changing from reddish-blue to purplish-black to yellowish-green as it heals. Bruises heal faster the nearer they are to the top of your body. Those on your face should take about 1 week, on your trunk up to 2 weeks, and on the legs up to a month. Because there is more blood pressure in leg vessels, they bleed more than those in the arms, so legs bruise worse.
Rub Vitamin K cream into a bruise straight away, and reapply twice daily until the bruise is dissolved.

Research shows that physically fit people have half the hearing loss of people who aren't fit. A study showed that people who exercised briskly three or four times a week improved their hearing and actually reversed some hearing loss. Exercise may allow more oxygen-rich blood to be pumped to distant small areas, such as the inner ear. There was also an increase in circulating proteins that defend the inner organs of the ear against stressors, so they hold up longer.

You can easily pay $100 or more for a Christmas tree. Or, you can save big and do it yourself. No -- not grow it yourself -- cut it yourself. Cutting your own tree is a guarantee that you will save money, get a fresh, safe tree and enjoy a family outing all at the same time. Where you live might have a lot to do with how much you will pay. Folks in suburban communities can count on spending about $30. And you don't need a truck. Most Christmas tree farms will package and load your selection for you. Remember: get your tree into water within two hours after cutting.

With the holidays come visits from family and friends. Keep in mind that your home might be somewhat unfamiliar ground to many who gather there. Make your home a safer place to visit by ensuring that exterior lighting is up to snuff. (You may know the exact height of every curb and step leading to your home and can get from the garage to the front door in the snow after dark with your hands tied behind your back. But your guests probably can't.) Best to consider some of the following tips. First, think about installing automatic light controls -- the kind that operate by sensing heat or motion. Photoelectric operation is OK, but a timer must be added to this kind of configuration so that lights can be automatically turned off when not needed. Solar garden lights don't need wires and can be staked into the ground next to entry walks and driveways. After the holidays -- when traffic subsides -- the walk lights can be stored until next time.

Low blood pressure can leave you feeling light-headed, sluggish or headachy.
Dehydration can cause blood pressure to drop dramatically. So make sure you drink a lot if it is hot. If you're feeling faint, have a sports drink or some broth to normalize your blood pressure. If you start to feel woozy, eating something will also help.
Your blood pressure can momentarily drop when standing up after sitting or lying down. This dizziness is because blood rushes to your legs from other areas. Jiggle your legs a bit whilst sitting, and get up slowly.

Planning a New Year's Eve party? There's a lot you'll need to buy. A bottle of wine holds four to six glasses. Champagne, while the same in size, goes a bit farther. "Fifths" (4/5th- quart bottles) make from 10 to 16 cocktails. For mixes, get club soda, tonic and ginger ale, and have plenty of soda and soft drinks on hand, too. You'll need 1 pound of ice per person. Sixteen people means 16 pounds of ice (you'll want even more if you're chilling bottles or cans). And, don't forget juices like tomato, orange, apple and cranberry. Today many prefer juice and soda or sparkling mineral water to a cocktail. Don't forget garnishes like lemon and lime, olives and bitters. To make 25 cups of coffee, you'll need a half-pound and almost a gallon of water.

Viruses cause colds and flu. Antibiotics are used for infections caused by bacteria and have no effect on viruses. Why then are we given antibiotics for flu's and colds? Colds are caused by a virus, which our immune systems are supposed to fight.
Antibiotics in fact weakens the immune system, this is why one would get reoccurring infections which don't clear up. Cold weather does not cause colds; most cold viruses thrive better in colder temperature. There are 200 viruses that can cause a cold, and your immune system should be able to fight a cold within 7-10 days, if strong enough.
What to do?! Detoxifying the body is vital since your immune system is weakened by toxins and parasites. Make sure you have 1-3 bowel movements per day as constipation toxifies the liver causing a weak immune system. Add flaxseed oil to your diet 2-4 tablesthingys combined with ground flaxseed, or 4-10 capsules per day. Take herbs like Echinacea, zinc, garlic, olive leaf extract, elderberry, goldenseal and Vit C. A combination of herbs is better than just one ingredient like Vit C.

Stress Reducing Techniques Dr CJ from The Stress Clinic says that "Every human being is challenged on a daily basis by external events which are known as stress triggers."
To reduce stress levels try doing something you like eg.taking a walk in the park, playing with your dog or listening to your favourite music. Positive thinking may also help in this regard.

Small, Medium Or Large
To find out your frame size , encircle your wrist with your thumb and third finger. If the tips of your fingers overlap, you have a small frame. If they just touch you are medium, and if they don't touch you have a large frame.
