It's still the holiday season with just two more days until the new year and that means more cars are on the roads across the region.
Kentucky State Police say so far, the number of deadly collisions in Kentucky is down from last year. Though police say it has been a good holiday season on the roads compared with other years, they began stepping up patrols just a few minutes ago and are setting up sobriety checkpoints.
Just two days left in 2007 and police are giving drivers a few easy tips to ensure they have a safe and happy New Year.
"Refrain from drunk driving, keep the speed down and always wear a seatbelt," said KSP Trooper Barry Blair.
And while we've heard these tips before, perhaps something you didn't think of, always plan ahead to prevent that last minute panic.
"With the added traffic, time spans are gonna be a lot longer, so allow yourself some extra time in order to get to your destination," Blair said.
